Description
Cantina Terlano Pinot Nero Monticol Riserva — the cooperative's cellar-tier Pinot Noir from the Monticol single-vineyard in the Terlano DOC.
Made at Cantina Terlano in Terlano (Alto Adige / Südtirol), a growers' cooperative founded in 1893 whose 143 member families farm steep, south-facing porphyry and volcanic soils in the central Alto Adige valley; Cantina Terlano is known for long-lived white wines — particularly Pinot Bianco — whose quality and cellar potential are unusual for the price. Pinot Nero from the Monticol single-vineyard on porphyry soils; fermented with whole-cluster component and aged for 24+ months in large French oak, then further bottle-aged before release.
Dark cherry, wild strawberry, forest floor, cedar and fine spice | Medium-bodied Pinot Nero with fine tannin, complex mineral character and long acidity | Very long, cherry-and-spice, dry close
Mushroom risotto, duck breast, grilled venison and aged Asiago; a cellar-tier Alto Adige Pinot Nero for laying down 5-15 years.
