Domaine A Petit a is an assemblage of classic Bordeaux varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand from old estate vines. Typically, veraison will happen in February and picking in mid-April.
Petit a is crafted in small batches employing traditional techniques including open vat fermentation, regular racking and hand plunging. It is matured in seasoned French oak barriques for 2 years and rested in the cellar for a further 4 years until ready for release.
This wine is one of the last years of Peter Althaus producing Domaine A wines before Conor van der Reest and David Walsh took over winemaking and ownership respectively.
