Château Saint Georges

Bordeaux

Château Saint Georges is one of the oldest and most historic estates in Saint-Georges-Saint-Emilion a satellite appellation immediately north of Saint-Emilion on the right bank of the Dordogne (Gironde). The château dates to the 18th century and includes a neoclassical château building that dominates the appellation's elevated plateau. Saint-Georges-Saint-Emilion shares the same clay-limestone soils and Merlot-dominant production as Saint-Emilion Proper but at more accessible price points.

For programmes building a right bank Bordeaux section that includes the Saint-Emilion satellites (alongside Pomerol and Fronsac), Saint-Georges-Saint-Emilion from Château Saint Georges provides the quality-accessible Merlot-dominant right bank red with genuine historic estate provenance. The satellite appellations offer the same soil types and varietal composition as Saint-Emilion Grand Cru at lower price points suited to by-the-glass service where the right-bank style (soft tannin, plum and chocolate fruit) is the goal.
