Fabien Duveau

Loire

Fabien Duveau is a Loire Valley producer making Cabernet Franc-based reds from the Bourgueil appellation (Indre-et-Loire, north bank of the Loire). Bourgueil produces Cabernet Franc from both the plateau (tuffeau limestone-based) and the coteau (sandy gravel) soils the two terroir types producing different expressions of the variety: lighter, more aromatic wines from the sandy gravel, more structured and ageworthy wines from the tuffeau. Cabernet Franc from the Loire is the variety's most direct expression: herbal, red fruit, light tannin, high acid.

Loire Cabernet Franc is one of the wine world's most food-friendly red varieties at restaurant service: the herbal and red-fruit character (blackcurrant leaf, raspberry, graphite), medium body, and high acidity make it versatile across a wide range of food pairings from charcuterie to goat's cheese to poultry. For programmes building a Loire red section beyond Sancerre rouge (Pinot Noir), Bourgueil Cabernet Franc provides the appellation's most direct and food-functional expression of the variety.
