Frederic Mestreau is a cognac range curated and distributed by the selection house L&L Grosperrin. The three expressions VS (2-4 years), XO No. 08 Borderies, and XO No. 28 Fine Champagne are drawn from Grosperrin's documented cellar stocks and bottled under the Mestreau label, which carries Grosperrin's sourcing standards and cru provenance. The VS is an entry-level range expression; the two XOs represent cru-specific aged selections.

The Borderies XO is the most distinctive expression in this range. Borderies is the smallest of the six cognac crus a compact zone of flint-and-clay soils north of the town of Cognac that produces a recognisably different spirit profile: nuttier, rounder, with a characteristic violet and walnut note absent from the chalk-dominated Grande Champagne style. Very little single-cru Borderies cognac reaches independent listing in Australia; for programmes wanting to demonstrate cru character without committing to the full Grosperrin depth, the Mestreau Borderies XO is the point of entry.
