Domaine Charvin (Gérard Charvin) is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate farming old-vine Grenache on the sandy plateau of the Orange sector, producing Châteauneuf in the traditional unfined, unfiltered style: whole-bunch fermentation, extended maceration, long ageing in foudres. Old vines some dating to the 1920s on sandy Châteauneuf soils produce wines of garrigue-herb character, concentration, and genuine ageing potential.

Gérard Charvin is among the better-value prestige addresses in Châteauneuf-du-Pape: respected for authenticity and consistency without the premium pricing of the appellation's most famous names. For programmes building a traditional, old-vine Châteauneuf section, Charvin provides the most direct expression of sandy-soil old-vine Grenache in the Bouchon range.
