Grosperrin
Cognac (Saintes — between Fins Bois and Borderies) · Est. 1999
L&L Grosperrin is a Paris-based specialist cognac selection house founded by Jean-Luc Grosperrin. The house operates on the same model as Darroze in armagnac: sourcing aged cognacs from independent cellar owners and farming estates across all six crus, buying in barrel or large glass bonbonnes (demi-johns), continuing ageing in their own Parisian cellars, and bottling with full documentation of origin, cru, and vintage year. The Grosperrin approach treats cognac sourcing as a provenance-driven practice rather than a blending exercise.
The range at Bouchon is the largest and most specialist cognac selection in the catalogue 50+ expressions covering all six crus (Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois, Bons Bois) at age grades from VS-equivalent through pre-war vintages. The Frederic Mestreau sub-range (VS, XO Borderies, XO Fine Champagne) is drawn from Grosperrin cellar stock under a separate label. For on-premise programmes wanting to offer cognac with the same terroir narrative applied to armagnac or wine specific cru, specific cellar, specific year Grosperrin is the vehicle. No other producer in the catalogue offers this depth of documented single-cru provenance.
