La Pigeade

La Pigeade is a Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise producer in Beaumes-de-Venise (Vaucluse, southern Rhône) producing the appellation's characteristic naturally sweet fortified Muscat. Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise AOC is a vin doux naturel: fresh-pressed Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains juice is partially fermented, then fortified with neutral spirit to arrest fermentation, retaining natural grape sugar and the variety's intensely floral, apricot, and honeysuckle aromatics.

Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise is one of France's most approachable and versatile sweet wine formats: low-to-medium alcohol (approximately 15%), served chilled, with the Muscat variety's natural grape-forward aromatics undisguised by oak or botrytis complexity. For programmes offering a dessert wine or aperitif-doux service at accessible price points, Beaumes-de-Venise provides the southern Rhône fortified Muscat alternative to Banyuls or Rivesaltes, with greater aromatic immediacy and lower bitterness than the oxidative-style vin doux naturels.
