Pierrick Laroche
Chablis (Maligny + Courgis, Burgundy) · Est. 2010
Pierrick Laroche is a Chablis producer associated with Domaine Laroche, one of the most important estates in the Chablis appellation (Yonne, northern Burgundy). The range covers the full Chablis classification hierarchy: Petit Chablis, Chablis AC village, Premier Cru, and Grand Cru including Grand Cru Bougros, one of the seven Chablis Grand Cru climats on the right bank of the Serein river above the town. Chablis is produced exclusively from Chardonnay grown on Kimmeridgian limestone (Kimméridgien) and Portlandian limestone soils, giving the wines their characteristic chalk-mineral character absent from warmer Burgundian Chardonnay zones.
The Chablis classification provides one of the clearest quality-ladder narratives in French wine: from the accessible entry Petit Chablis through village AC and Premier Cru (seventeen named sites) to the seven Grand Crus on the single sunlit hill above the town. Grand Cru Bougros the westernmost of the seven produces the most powerful and structured Grand Cru expression. For programmes building a white Burgundy section that includes Chablis as a distinct regional tier (cooler, more mineral, less oak than the Côte d'Or), the Laroche range offers the full classification progression from by-the-glass entry to Grand Cru prestige.
