Domaine Saint Damien is a Gigondas estate in the Dentelles de Montmirail (Vaucluse, southern Rhône) run by Joël Saurel, producing Gigondas from old-vine Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre grown on the appellation's characteristic limestone and clay scree soils at the foot of the jagged Dentelles ridge. Saint Damien's prestige cuvées Les Souteyrades and La Louisiane are produced from very old vine selections, vinified and aged in foudres, representing Gigondas at its most serious and age-worthy.

Gigondas produces some of the Rhône's most powerful and structured red wines: Grenache-dominant with significant Mourvèdre and Syrah, grown on limestone terraces and scree at higher altitude than Châteauneuf-du-Pape, producing wines with more structure and lift than the lower-elevation appellation. Domaine Saint Damien is one of the reference estates for premium Gigondas particularly the old-vine selections. For programmes building a southern Rhône red section beyond Châteauneuf, Gigondas from Saint Damien provides the appellation's quality ceiling narrative.
