Kavalan Peatist ex-Bourbon Cask Single Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky 50% 700ml

Kavalan is Taiwan's first whisky distillery, built in 2005 at Yuanshan in Yilan County by the King Car Group. Taiwan's state alcohol monopoly had kept private distilling out of reach until the island joined the World Trade Organization in 2002; founder Lee Tien-Tsai moved as soon as the door opened. The first spirit ran in March 2006 and the first bottles were released in December 2008. The distillery takes its name from the Kavalan people indigenous to the Yilan plain.

The site was chosen for its water and its climate, and the climate is the point. Yilan's heat and humidity drive an unusually fast, assertive maturation, with heavy evaporation and a depth of colour and weight of fruit at ages that would still be young in Scotland. The house range runs from the Classic and Single Malt through cask-finished bottlings such as Concertmaster and Triple Sherry Cask, up to the Solist single casks — one cask, undiluted, bottled at natural strength — and the peated Peatist series. Kavalan has become one of the most decorated distilleries in the world, and was named Distiller of the Year at the 2026 World Whiskies Awards.
