Castellare di Castellina

Tuscany (Castellina-in-Chianti) · Est. 1977

Castellare di Castellina is a Chianti Classico estate in Castellina in Chianti, Tuscany one of the established mid-size estates in the historic heart of the Chianti Classico DOCG. The estate is known for I Sodi di San Niccolò, an IGT Toscana from Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera grown on the estate's San Niccolò vineyard one of the original 'super-Tuscan' expressions that predated the DOCG reclassification. Standard Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva are the commercial backbone.

For programmes building a Chianti Classico section, Castellare provides the Castellina sub-zone expression: Castellina sits in the western part of the Classico zone at higher elevation than the Radda or Gaiole sub-zones, producing Sangiovese with a slightly more lifted, aromatic character. I Sodi di San Niccolò is the estate's flagship for premium Italian red by-the-glass service a named-vineyard Sangiovese blend with cellar track record and collector recognition.
