Delord
Bas-Armagnac (Lannepax, Gascony) · Est. 1893
Delord Freres was established in 1893 in Lannepax, a commune in the Tenareze cru the clay-limestone middle zone of Armagnac, sitting between the sandy Bas-Armagnac to the west and the chalky Haut-Armagnac to the east. Tenareze produces a rounder, more structured spirit than the lighter Bas-Armagnac benchmark. The family grows its own grapes (primarily Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche), distils in the traditional armagnac alembic continu (continuous still), and ages in Monlezun oak in their own cellars a vertically integrated model rare in a trade dominated by negociants.
The Delord range spans standard age grades (VS, VSOP, Napoleon, XO) through to vintage releases dating back to mid-20th century. As a Tenareze producer, Delord armagnac reads more structured and muscular than the Bas-Armagnac reference style: heavier wood extraction, deeper dried fruit, longer finish. For on-premise programmes seeking a counterpoint to the Bas-Armagnac standard or a structured digestif alternative to cognac at competitive price points, Delord is the reference producer in the catalogue.
