Domaine Philippe Collotte is a Marsannay producer in the Côte de Nuits (Burgundy) the northernmost appellation in the Côte de Nuits, immediately south of Dijon. Marsannay is uniquely positioned as the only Burgundy AC entitled to produce all three colours: Rouge (Pinot Noir), Blanc (Chardonnay), and Rosé (Pinot Noir vinified as rosé). The Marsannay Rouge and Rosé are the estate's principal expressions, made from Pinot Noir grown on the limestone and clay soils of the village communes.

Marsannay sits at the northern gateway to the Côte de Nuits the appellation most accessible in price within the northern Côte, providing Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir character (darker fruit, more structure than the Côte de Beaune) at village-level pricing. For programmes wanting a Côte de Nuits Rouge as a by-the-glass option without Premier Cru investment, Marsannay is the entry point. The Marsannay Rosé is also distinctive a dry, structured Pinot Noir rosé from Burgundy's most northern commune, quite different from Provence rosé in weight and mineral character.
