Frapin
Cognac · Est. 1888
Frapin is one of the most significant estate producers in the cognac appellation. The family owns over 200 hectares of vineyard in Grande Champagne, centred on the commune of Segonzac, making them one of the largest grower-distillers in the appellation. Unlike most cognac houses of comparable commercial scale, Frapin's entire range is single-terroir Grande Champagne: all fruit is grown on the family's chalk estate. The historic Chateau Fontpinot (the family property name) appears on their prestige expressions.
The Frapin range runs from VS through VSOP, XO, Chateau Fontpinot, Cuvee Rabelais, and the rare Extra-Vieux expressions. Their XO is among the most consistently awarded cognacs in international competition. For on-premise programmes wanting a well-recognised, broadly distributed Grande Champagne estate one with depth across price points and the credibility of a documented 600-year-old Charente family estate Frapin is the natural anchor for a serious cognac list.
