Santa Maria la Palma is a cooperative winery in Alghero, northwestern Sardinia the major town of the Sassari province and the centre of the Vermentino di Sardegna DOC in the island's north-west. The cooperative draws on member vineyards across the Alghero plains and low hills, producing primarily Vermentino di Sardegna and the local Alghero DOC wines. The Le Bombarde Vermentino is the estate's flagship expression.

Vermentino di Sardegna is one of Italy's most characterful and commercially accessible white wines: high acid, saline mineral character from the Mediterranean coastal proximity, citrus and stone-fruit aromatics, and a bitter almond finish. As a cooperative production, Santa Maria la Palma provides volume-appropriate Vermentino at consistent quality suited to by-the-glass deployment in programmes wanting to offer Sardinian white wine in the everyday Italian white tier, where the style's freshness and food versatility (seafood, light pasta, antipasti) make it immediately useful.
