Thibaud Boudignon

Loire · Est. 2008

Thibaud Boudignon is one of the most critically acclaimed young Loire producers, based at Faye-d'Anjou in the Anjou appellation, making Anjou Blanc from very old-vine Chenin Blanc grown on the schist and shale soils of the Coteaux de l'Aubance. Boudignon's Anjou Blanc made from vines up to 90 years old, farmed organically, vinified without fining or filtration has been widely recognised as among the most exciting contemporary expressions of dry Loire Chenin Blanc, offering depth and complexity at the Anjou AC level that competes with Savennières Premier Cru.

For programmes building a contemporary Loire Chenin Blanc section, Boudignon occupies a distinct position: an Anjou AC label (not the prestige Savennières or Coteaux du Layon appellations) producing wine of remarkable concentration and terroir expression from extreme-old-vine material. The combination of low-intervention winemaking, old-vine density, and schist-terroir character makes Boudignon's Anjou Blanc a compelling fine wine option for programmes wanting to demonstrate Loire Chenin Blanc's quality ceiling at appellation level, rather than cru level.
