Dillon Rhum Agricole Blanc Martinique 55% 1L

The Dillon estate sits in the hills above Fort-de-France and carries the name of Arthur Dillon, an officer of Irish descent who came to Martinique in the late eighteenth century after serving with Lafayette's troops in the American War of Independence, and whose family gave the property its name. Sugar had been worked on the land long before that. The distillery as it stands was built in 1928, around a Corliss steam engine dating from 1922.

Dillon passed to Bardinet in 1967 and sits today within the COFEPP group. Distilling at the Fort-de-France site stopped in the mid-2000s and the Dillon copper creole column was moved to Depaz, where the rhum is now made from fresh cane juice; it continues to be aged at the original Dillon cellars. The rhums are certified under the Martinique AOC.
