Gilles Robin Crozes-Hermitage Papillon 2024

100% Syrah from vines planted in 1996 by Gilles Robin himself on the red stony clay soils of Les Chassis, peppered with rolled river stones (galets roules) and rich in iron. Hand harvested and fully destemmed, fermented in stainless steel tanks with a system enabling the cap to be gently held down, giving notable texture after just 8 months ageing in tank. Farmed organically. The wine shows a fruity charm of dark berries, blackcurrant, black cherry and ripe plum, with spice notes including liquorice, pepper and violet typical of the Chassis terroir. Very fine, velvety tannins carry through to a long, mineral finish. A fresh, immediate style of Syrah made for young consumption.
