Pooley Syrah 2024

A structured and expressive cool-climate Syrah from the Coal River Valley, crafted by winemaker Anna Pooley to deliver a balanced profile of rich dark and red fruit layered with savoury spice and white pepper. The winemaking involves extended skin contact and maturation in French oak, balanced with a component of stainless steel for freshness and regional fidelity. The 2024 opens with a vibrant bouquet of red confectionary, ripe blackcurrant, black cherry and dark plum with the characteristic savoury undercurrent of white pepper, smoked meat and violets. The palate is medium-bodied and silky with plush, velvety tannins, a driven acid line and a long, mineral finish of impressive persistence. Named Best Wine of Show, Best Red and Best Shiraz at the 2026 Sydney Royal Wine Show — the first Tasmanian Syrah ever to achieve this feat in categories historically dominated by the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale.
