St Damien Cotes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu Vieilles Vignes 2024

From the lower terraced parcels of the Plan de Dieu lieu-dit in the commune of Violes, a blend of 80% Grenache (vines planted 1948) and 20% Mourvedre on red clay soils with stones and ancient alluvium. Organically farmed. Fermented for 30 days in concrete vats, then matured for 10 months in a mix of concrete tanks and large old 50hL oak foudres, bottled without fining or filtration. Black cherries, peppery herbs, flowers and mineral notes emerge from this broad, layered and round effort. Medium-bodied, supple and wonderfully textured, with velvety yet still-building tannins — exceptional value from one of the Southern Rhone's most consistently acclaimed estates.
