Fernando de Castilla
Jerez (Andalusia) · Est. 1837
Fernando de Castilla is a premium Jerez sherry and brandy house based in the Jerez de la Frontera bodega quarter, founded in 1999 under the direction of Norwegian businessman Jan Pettersen, who purchased and restored a historic bodega to produce small-production artisan sherry from selected solera stocks. The house focuses on the premium end of the Jerez spectrum: Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Oloroso, Palo Cortado, Pedro Ximenes, and Cream in both classic and Antique (rare old) tiers, plus their Brandy de Jerez expressions.
The Fernando de Castilla range at Bouchon covers 12 expressions across sherry styles and Brandy de Jerez. The Antique tier (Antique Fino, Antique Amontillado, Antique Oloroso, Antique Palo Cortado, Antique Pedro Ximenes) is the premium selection: individually sourced from old soleras at exceptional concentration and age. Brandy de Jerez (Solera Reserva and the rare Solera Gran Reserva) represents the Spanish brandy equivalent of cognac, aged in ex-sherry butts in the Jerez solera system. For on-premise programmes building a serious sherry list or featuring Spanish brandy alongside cognac and armagnac, Fernando de Castilla is the artisan Jerez reference in the catalogue.
