On the palate
Delord Floc de Gascogne Rouge is a traditional apéritif from France's Gascony region, crafted by blending two-thirds fresh grape juice from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc grapes with one-third young Delord Armagnac. This mixture is then matured in old oak barrels for at least nine months to preserve its fresh fruitiness.
The result is a fortified wine with a clear maroon, red appearance and an alcohol content of 17%. On the nose, it offers aromas of strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, fudge, honeycomb, and milk chocolate. The palate reveals flavors of toffee fudge, tobacco, raspberry, blackberry, honey, and dark chocolate, leading to an aftertaste of raspberry, dark chocolate, fruit tannins, and a hint of black pepper.
Best served chilled between 8–12°C, Delord Floc de Gascogne Rouge pairs wonderfully with foie gras, melons, or as an after-dinner treat alongside fruit-based desserts.
